When you think of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, you likely picture buggies and farmland. You would be correct. but nestled in the heart of Lancaster City are diverse restaurants, cafe’s, and markets that make it one of the greatest places to both live and visit. Also located in the city, on East King Street, is Excelsior- an elegant and stylish wedding venue that is the perfect combination of history and luxury. Carmelle and Austin fell in love with the venue upon first visiting and planned the most beautiful Spring Wedding. These two met in high school and were engaged at Niagra Falls. With a love for travel, Carmelle and Austin still consider Lancaster, PA home. So, they chose to have their photos captured in Lancaster for both their engagement and their wedding.

When I arrived to Excelsior for Carmelle and Austin’s May wedding, I asked, as I always do, if Carmelle had any details that she would like photographed. I’ll never forget what Carmelle said: “No, I don’t care about that. I’m just here for the mems.” Some brides absolutely love details, and some don’t. As a photographer, I absolutely LOVE to photograph all the stationary, shoes, perfume, and family heirlooms. But Carmelle was “there for the mems.” Throughout the day, I knew exactly what she meant. It became so apparent as the day went on, the way in which she and Austin both valued their people. A large bridal party was proof of the rich relationships they had developed throughout their lives through grade school, college, work, and travel. It was our joy to document Carmelle and Austin’s Day as they celebrated with their family and friends who they hold most dear. They were “there for the mems”, and so were we.
